Cut Culture
Welcome to Cut Culture. This is where we share what inspires us,
what we’ve been up to, and who to keep an eye on in the industry.
Vol. 35
From enjoying bodily pleasures to enduring bodily pains: life is all about balance, and so is this month’s Cut Culture. We’re taking a look at a Sisyphean struggle turned cinematic and some opinion-dividing advertising. Is it smut? Is it art? Is it smart? The answer lies within. Sticking with the theme of overheating, we’ll give you a peak behind the scenes of our latest shoot for The North Face x JD Sports, before closing out with an intro to one of our long-time favourite DOPs.
Vol. 34
Cut Culture is back, and this time we come bearing mile-high safety videos and product launches that’ll make you feel high. From the sky to the sea, we’ll then give you a peak behind the scenes of our Powerade shoot in Barcelona with a boat load of Olympians before finishing up with an intro to the latest photographer to go from our Radar to your feeds.
Vol. 33
From rhubarb in Yorkshire to civic pride in Newcastle, this month’s Cut Culture is looking at how you take the provincial and make it premium. We’ll also take you behind the scenes of a very long walk up a very big hill, before closing things out with an intro to the man behind the camera for our most recent trip north of the border to Speyside.
Vol. 32
From moving stationary in the German Alps, to decks and creps in Northern Italy, to full festival vibes in Tenerife - take a vicarious summer holiday through the latest volume of Cut Culture. All we’re missing is a trip to Wales for an intro to an Emmy Award winning DOP. Hang on… we’ve got that and all. Don’t forget your towel.
Vol. 31
From American football to German cars to Scotch Whisky, this volume of Cut Culture is going global. We’re highlighting some of the best work we’ve seen over the last month, taking you behind the scenes of our Longmorn campaign in Speyside, and finally offering an intro to the set designer from our latest shoot. Spoilt rotten…
Vol. 30
90s nostalgia and manga too (without a pea pod in sight), this month’s Cut Culture is celebrating some seriously heavy hitters. Speaking of heavy hitters, we’ll also give you an intro to the photographer and DOP duo who we just shot a load of Irish rugby players with. Plus, as a seasonal bonus, we’re offering a sneak peak behind the scenes of Depop’s spring campaign.
Vol. 29
Stratospheric Super Bowl salesmanship and timeline-twisting technology: all in a month’s Cut Culture. We’ll also take you behind the scenes in the least tatty part of Scotland for our new Longmorn campaign before wrapping things up with an intro to our fixer for the week up in Speyside.
Vol. 28
It’s the first Cut Culture of 2024, so we’re coming out swinging with some golden boy glory and an homage to Homerton. Then we’re racing from East London to Woking for a BTS view of our shoot at the McLaren Technology Centre, before crossing the finish line with an intro to our mates at Lux Studio.
Vol. 27
Here it is, your Christmas Cut Culture. What a lovely gift. No we didn’t keep the receipt. To close out the year we’re taking a look at a GOAT music video and a Christmas campaign guaranteed to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Then we’ll take you behind the scenes of our latest shoot… with a twist… before finishing up with an intro to our favourite set designer, multimedia artist and music journalist (yes those are all one person).
Vol. 26
This volume of Cut Culture will take you on a journey through time, space… and France, feat. a Hemingwayesque swan song and a mind-bending music video. And nuestra casa es su casa, so we’ll also be taking you behind the scenes pitchside at the Home of Football before finishing things up with an intro to the sharp shooter on our latest campaign (which is coming soon…).
Vol. 25
Stop what you’re doing right now… new Cut Culture just dropped. This time we’re bringing you the shooting of an Original Superstar from a Wolfe in sheep’s clothing, a travel ad that’ll warm the cockles of your cold heart, and an intro to one of our current go-to photographers. And with the Rugby World Cup in full swing (…low, sweet chariot?), we’ll also give you a glimpse behind the scenes of our recent work for Canterbury, featuring everyone’s favourite Aussie Irishman currently tearing it up in France.
Vol. 24
It’s that time again… we’re back with another volume of Cut Culture. And we’re taking a look at some big ads from big brands with big budgets, starting with all the sizzling sibilance of a star-studded circus celebrating sport from Sky. We’ll also take you behind the scenes of our latest campaign for Depop, shooting all the summer fits you didn’t need during the last month of diurnal downpours. And we’ll close things out with an intro to a DOP/mountaineer who you should probably get to know.
Vol. 23
Missing the football? This volume of Cut Culture has got you covered. We’re going behind the scenes of our FA Cup capture for Mitre. We’ll also take a look at a legendary link-up music video, as well as one of the most high concept games of rock, paper, scissors you’ll ever see. And last but not least we’ll give you an intro to one of the photographers who we’ve been loving working with lately.
Vol. 22
We’re back with another round of Cut Culture. And this one is a belter, because we’re taking you behind the scenes in Miami for USC’s summer campaign. Plus we’ll be taking a look at a 3-minute journey rife with emotion and electrolytes, as well as the most entertaining agency sales pitch you’ve ever seen. And lastly we’ll close things out with an intro to one of our favourite DOPs (who we’ve done some work with recently which will be dropping in the next few weeks…).
Vol. 21
Cut Culture is back, and this time round we’re bringing you a mockumentary masterpiece and an Apple etherealopolis. Then we’ll take you behind the scenes of our latest shoot for Mitre with a certain England international. And last but not least, we’ll intro you to our man with the camera in Miami for USC’s summer campaign (which, like Summer, is coming soon).
Vol. 20
Spring has sprung… sort of. But spring campaigns are here at least, so we’re taking you behind the scenes of ours for USC. We’ll also have a look at the first Superbowl ad to reduce half the US population to tears simultaneously, as well as a short film celebration of forced consciousness expansion. And topping the bill, we’ve got an introduction to one of the most deservedly sought-after photographers around at the moment (who also just so happened to be behind the lens for our USC shoot...).
Vol. 19
Here it is: your first Cut Culture of 2023. We’re kicking things off with some innovation inspiration and an oat milk black market movie. We’ll also go behind the scenes of one of our favourite campaigns of 2022 for Casio G-Shock, and then we’ll close things out with an intro to one of the people who made that campaign (and a load of our other ones from last year) possible. Start as you mean to go on…
Vol. 18
It’s the last Cut Culture of the year, so we’re going out with a bang. We’re bringing you an oil-painted paragon and a slightly depressing history lesson. And since it’s Christmas, we’re throwing in an extra video as we flick through the pages of our own 2022. We’ll also take you behind the scenes of our Christmas campaign for USC, before closing things out with an intro to one of our favourite long-time collaborators. See you in 2023.
Vol. 17
Halloween has been and gone, but Cut Culture is sticking with the spooky as we shine a light on an animated, alcoholic, haunting homage. We’ll also go behind the scenes of our shoot for the ECB - featuring half the England women’s team crammed into a house in South London - and finally we’ll close things out with an intro to our favourite stylist, who we assure you isn’t in the least bit frightening.
Vol. 16
Cut Culture returns. This time round we’re looking at haughty couture and a psychedelic swim through space that would simply not be suitable for under-18s. We’ll also take you back to Barcelona for a peak behind the scenes of our latest shoot for PUMA, and last but not least, we’ll close the show with an intro to a DOP who you really ought to get to know.
